Essential Guide for Spouses, Partners, and Dependent Children of Principal Visa Holders
Applicable To: The spouse, permanent partner, and children under the age of 25 who are economically dependent on the principal visa holder, or those over 25 who present a duly certified disability preventing economic independence.
Duration: The beneficiary visa cannot exceed the duration of the visa held by the principal visa holder.
General Requirements:
Copy of the main page of the passport where all the holder's information appears, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
Digital color photo with a white background measuring 4 centimeters high by 3 centimeters wide. You should be facing the camera and your head should be centered and complete. Both eyes should be open and the ears should be visible. There should be no glare in the photo, hair or other accessories should not be allowed to cover the face. The image format is JPG and must have a maximum size of 300 KB. NOTE: The photo must be current, different from that of the passport, previous visas and applications.
If the applicant is in Colombia at the time of applying for the visa, copy of the last stamp of entry or exit from Colombia or extension of stay or safe passage for visa application (whichever applies).
In the event that the applicant begins the visa process while in their country of residence (different from their country of nationality), they must present an identification document from their country of residence, for example: NIE, Visa, Driving License, etc.
Specific Requirements:
Copy of Principal Visa: Copy of the current visa of the principal visa holder from whom the beneficiary wishes to obtain the visa.
Proof of Relationship:
Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate: Copy of the marriage certificate or birth certificate that certifies the relationship or family link with the principal visa holder. These documents must be properly apostilled, legalized, and translated into Spanish if they are in another language.
Written Request from Principal Visa Holder: Written communication from the principal visa holder requesting the beneficiary visa and declaring economic dependency and responsibility for the beneficiary's travel and/or stay expenses in the national territory, including health coverage services.
Proof of Financial Responsibility: The principal visa holder must demonstrate, through bank statements for the last 6 months or employment certification, that they have sufficient income to assume financial responsibility for their beneficiaries.
Benefits of this visa: This visa allows you to reside, exercise any legal activity in Colombia (except work), such as studying, signing contracts, opening a bank account, etc. Likewise, if the holder of the visa of which you are a beneficiary is the holder of any type M visa, you can accumulate the same time continuously and uninterruptedly with this type of visa, to apply for a Resident visa for accumulated time. .
Allows to Work in Colombia?: No, the beneficiary visa does not permit the holder to work in Colombia.
Processing Time: Generally, from 2 to 5 weeks, but it may vary depending on the specific circumstances of each application.
Application Location: Can be applied for from within Colombia or from the applicant's country of residence or nationality.
