It is prohibited to work for or provide services to a Colombian company, as well as to receive compensation for performing any type of work in Colombia. However, you can receive passive income from investments in Colombia.

Specific Requirements
Bank Statements: Personal bank statements from the applicant for the last 6 months, proving an income of more than three (3) Colombian legal minimum wages. For 2026 it is $5,240,646 Colombian Pesos or around to $1,435 US dolars (Jan 2026).

Employment Letter/Certificate: A letter or certificate in Spanish or English, detailing the type of contract, position, salary, and the length of time the applicant has been with the company. It should ideally state that the job can be performed remotely from Colombia.
Employment Contract or Ownership Proof: Employment contract, service contract, or certificate proving that the applicant is a partner or co-owner of the company (equivalent to a Colombian Certificate of Existence and Legal Representation).
Travel All-risk Assistance Insurance: This is not a standard medical insurance; it must be an "all risks" policy covering accidents, illness, maternity, disability, hospitalization, death, and fundamentally, repatriation of remains. The policy must guarantee coverage in Colombia for the entire duration of your visa.

Responses, re-filings, extensions or ID appointments, if needed, are fixed-quoted per event.
Protected Plan — for what the process normally requires ($540 USD). Includes the same as Essential, plus: 1 extension request (government payment separate), up to 2 translations, up to 2 requirement responses, up to 1 re-application for inadmissibility without legal fees, up to 2 ID appointments. Government fees separate.
Turnkey Plan — zero friction with third-party payments. Includes the same as Protected and we also handle and pay for the main applicant the covered fees and services per written proposal: studies, issuance, extensions, safe-conducts, ID card, marriage registrations, U.S./Canada background checks plus apostille where applicable, required translations, appointments, pickup with power of attorney and international shipping. Flat fee 2,900 USD, 50% at signing and 50% at filing. Dependents always separate.
