New Visa Requirements for Israeli Citizens: Impact on Digital Nomad Eligibility
2026-01-30
We are informing our clients and the international community of a significant regulatory change regarding the immigration status of Israeli nationals in Colombia.
As of July 2025, citizens of Israel are required to obtain a Visitor Visa (V) for Tourism to enter Colombian territory. This change, while specific to short-term entry, has a critical technical consequence for those seeking the Digital Nomad Visa.
The Technical Restriction for Digital Nomads
Under the current legal framework established by Resolution 5477 of 2022, the Digital Nomad Visa is strictly reserved for nationals of countries that are exempt from short-stay visas in Colombia (as listed in Resolution 5488 of 2022).
Since Israeli citizens now require a tourism visa for entry, they no longer meet the primary requirement for the Digital Nomad category. Therefore, they are technically ineligible to apply for the Digital Nomad Visa under the current regulations.
Legal Basis
This update is officially mandated by Resolution 8558 of July 23, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Alternative Residency Options
Israeli citizens wishing to live and work remotely from Colombia must now explore alternative visa categories that do not depend on nationality exemptions. These may include:
Migrant (M) Visas: Based on investment, retirement, or marriage.
Visitor (V) Visas: For specific technical assistance or business purposes.
